Hulk Smash Series

Hulk Smash – Part Two

Let’s get something straight.

Anger is not a sin.

Jesus was pure. He didn’t sin, and yet, in Mark 11:15-25, Jesus is clearly angry with the people who are defiling God’s temple. This shows us that anger is not a sin, in and of itself. There is such a thing as “righteous anger”.

This is not righteous anger:

In a much later scene, the Hulk does have the good type of anger, when he’s fighting Loki and the Chitauri. Now, like I said before, anger is not a sin. It’s what you do with your anger that makes you sin. We’ll be talking about that in a later post, so, for now, just remember; even Jesus got angry. Anger is not necessarily a sin, as long as you’re angry at the right thing.

Hulk Smash – Part One

Anger.

Yep.

I think that pretty much describes the Hulk. Unless you want to be more specific, using words like “wrath” or “rage”.

Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry.

Ephesians 4:26b

Ever heard that verse before? A lot of people have probably heard it in some form or another at some point. The Hulk would do good to follow Paul’s advice.

What Paul is saying right here is that we shouldn’t hold grudges. We should be kind to others, not staying angry at them. If we show God’s kindness to them, we can help to change their hearts.

Hulk Smash – Introduction To The Series

This Hulk section of the Superhero Sundays is going to take a while, so I’ve divided it into parts. Because there’s a lot to talk about.

What do you think about when you hear someone say “The Hulk”? Do you think of a calm, quiet Dr. Banner? No, of course not. You probably think of a huge green monster roaring and smashing things. And probably his signature line: “Hulk smash!” As I have not watched any of the Hulk movies, only the Avengers, I think of Hulk in several (funny) scenes from the Avengers. And this is one of my favorite quotes, even though it doesn’t include the Hulk, just his alter-ego. 😉

Thanks

There were a few other quotes, but I chose this one because it perfectly introduces the topic of this series of posts: anger. Yep. What better way to talk about anger than to use the Hulk as an example? So that’s what this series of Superhero Sunday posts is going to be about. Anger.
