Dogs

Happy Birthday!

Our adorable dog turns 1 year old today. 😀 So excited!

Daisy’s Story

We adopted Daisy, an Australian Shepherd/short-hair collie mix, from the Animal Defense League. She was only a few months old at the time. We took her into a play pen to get to know her, and fell in love. We also found the true meaning of the phrase “puppy dog eyes”. 😉 Adopting is the way to go. There are so many dogs out there, all created by God. It’s nice to know that you’re giving an unwanted animal a second chance. 🙂

Pictures of Daisy when we first got her in early summer of 2013.

Connections – Ice

Connections are… connections. Okay, I’m sure you figured out that much. Connections are connections between two (or more) things, normally connected only by a word, or two.

Ice #1

Our dog likes ice. We gave her an ice cube that fell on the floor and she had so much fun trying to eat it. I’m just glad she didn’t try to chew on it. Ouch. That was pretty funny. And then, on our trip to Lamesa (Thanksgiving!) there was ice on the ground. She sure liked that!

Ice #2

Another quote from a song!

When a heart is cold as ice
You can’t melt it with advice
No one wants to listen to
A list of things they shouldn’t do
So I build a city on a hill
And I light a candle on a sill
Knowing You’ll be always knocking at the door

Learning to be the Light by Newworldson

This is so true about witnessing. You can’t change a heart with advice; you have to lead by example.

Connections – Lines

Connections are… connections. Okay, I’m sure you figured out that much. Connections are connections between two (or more) things, normally connected only by a word, or two.

Line #1

Our dog, Daisy, is not allowed in the kitchen. Where the carpet ends and the tile begins, there’s basically an imaginary line. No crossing. Of course, she does cross it. Sigh. So we get her out.

Line #2

‘Cause we all make mistakes sometimes,

And we all step across that line,

But nothing’s sweeter than the day we find,

Forgiveness, forgiveness…

-“Forgiveness” by tobyMac

From the album Eye On It

Yes, there’s a very, very narrow line for sin, too. You’re either on the “sin side” of the line, or you’re not. And when you step onto the “sin side” of the line, just ask God for his forgiveness. You’ll get it.

Patience and Daisy

Couldn’t help but starting off this post with a picture of our dog, Daisy, especially since this one’s mostly about her. 🙂

Isn’t she cute?! Yeah, that’s an empty red pepper container that she’s playing with. 😀 Anyway, I couldn’t resist a chance to talk about Daisy.

Daisy has a real problem with patience. Especially when it comes to her food. My parents are trying to teach her to hold a treat on the end of her nose and wait until they say “okay” before she eats it. Let’s just say that she’s not doing so well with the waiting part. 😉

When we first got her, we had a really hard time keeping her from diving for her food. Now she’s a lot better, thanks to my dad’s hard work, but it’s still funny to see her licking lips and straining to keep from going for her food.

Aren’t we like that sometimes? Sometimes it’s really hard to wait for things. We like to do things in our time, people time, not God time. Although I have to admit, a lot of the time, God time is a LOT slower than I’d like.

But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not grow weary, They shall walk and not faint.

-Isaiah 40:31

I love this verse. “Mount up with wings like eagles.” Sure makes me want to be patient!

Challenge: Ask God to help you be more patient with others this week. I’m sure it would be good if you started with your parents and siblings…
