A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor’s Hammer

Dear friends, I must apologize profusely for the lack of Superhero Sunday posts. Frankly, I ran out of material and ideas. And then… it hit me. Like a bag of flour. ๐Ÿ˜€ And so I present to you, the Marvel One-Shot: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thor’s Hammer. (Also known as Agent Coulson Beats Up Two Robbers With A Bag of Flour)

Marvel One-Shot – A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To Thorโ€™s Hammer Sub Thai By Agent K – CGT from ComicsGuideThailand</a> on Vimeo</a>.

Now why did I choose to post this video? Well, not only does it have some awesome quotes (“Tell them those Tae Bo tapes really paid off.”) and a very interesting bag of flour (Did you know that “Steranko” is actually the last name of a guy who used to do drawings for Marvel? It’s actually not a brand of flour. Imagine that. And is that even flour? I don’t remember convenience stores carrying that…) but it also has a good message.

After all, Agent Coulson doesn’t say his name once in the entire video. Go ahead, watch it again. In fact, if you don’t know Marvel very well, you may have had no idea who that was!

My point? The Bible says in Matthew 6:1, “‘Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.'” We shouldn’t do our good deeds to be seen by others.

As far as I know, Coulson never tells anyone about this. (The title shows that it happens during one of the Thor movies, neither of which I’ve watched. *gasp* So I might be wrong about that.) But as Christians, we’re not supposed to flaunt our good deeds for others to see. We’re supposed to keep them secret, for only God to know.

So become a secret agent for God, and do your good works to be seen by him, not others!

1. 1. That was awesome.
2. Nope, he doesn’t tell anyone about it. (Also, you should definitely watch the Thor movies. And the first Captain America- can’t say one way or another about the second, not having watched it myself.)
3. Very good message. I’m glad to see these posts going up again. ๐Ÿ™‚
4. Did I mention that was awesome?

1. Thanks so much for the comment! It was so nice to read. I looove this short. It’s one of my favorites. The Consultant is funny, if you haven’t seen it, you should watch it. It has the h word in it once, but that’s it. ๐Ÿ˜›
I am dying to watch the Thor movies, but my dad and I are the only ones who are really into those things, and my dad usually goes with my mom and my sister. I did get to watch the first Captain America movie, which was awesome, and made me a permanent Steve Rogers fan. And I want to watch The Winter Soldier sooo bad. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ
I’ve been wanting to do these posts, but I’ve been stuck on topics. *sigh* Hopefully I’ll come up with some more!
Again, thanks for the comment! Wow, this turned into almost a letter…

1. I haven’t seen it, no. Could I have a link, maybe?
Ah. I just watch them by myself, since none of my family is really into superhero movies and we so rarely have time to watch movies together anyway.
I had an idea for one last time I watched the Avengers . . . but I forgot it. ๐Ÿ˜› If I remember it, I’ll let you know.

2. http://vimeo.com/28846458 It’s really funny. Of course, Tony Stark’s in it, so it’s got to be funny…
*jealous* I wish I could do that. ๐Ÿ˜‰
That would be awesome. I keep trying to remember things that might work. I may have to use some other Loki quotes. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Or the “real power” quote.

3. I agree. A Funny Thing Happened is the best one in my opinion, but the other ones are pretty good, too. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Loki’s got a lot of good quotes. So does everyone else in the movie. Now I’m thinking that I’ll have to use the scene where *SPOILER* Coulson “dies”. Wow, that was a double spoiler.

4. The Consultant… would be Tony Stark. Iron Man. Naturally insensitive… yeah. And sarcastic. And rich. Hence the buying of the bar. Of course, I haven’t watch any of the three Iron Man movies, so I’m going entirely off of the Avengers. ๐Ÿ˜›

5. Meh, I guess it’s because he will sacrifice sometimes. Sometimes. And he’s not quite as self-centered as it seems sometimes, and yeah, he is pretty funny. Like in the Mother’s drapes quote. Although he was kind of mean to Cap. “A hero? Like you? You’re a laboratory experiment, Rogers. Everything special about you came out of a bottle.” Of course, Cap had his own part before that where he was being… derogatory or whatever. But yeah. That was super long….

6. Nah, it’s really not. You haven’t seen long until you get into a philosophy argument (or, for that matter, an argument on whether *cough cough* Ewan McGregor is good-looking… apparently the general consensus is “yes.” My explanation for the debacle is that I tend to notice voices before faces… I have irretrievably branded myself as weird, I think. :-P)
….I think I saw that… but I don’t get it… *sigh*
Have you been to the YAvengers website? It’s awesome and fun and hilarious. ๐Ÿ˜› It’s basically what happens when a bunch of Young Adult authors all band together to talk about writing and get to pretend to be superheroes.

7. sarahtps and I want to start a team of superheroes… I’m hoping to ask irisbloom5 to join. If you were a superhero, what powers would you have, or would you just be extremely well-trained? ๐Ÿ˜‰

8. Hm. Mind control would be cool or telepathy, as would healing and telekinesis and weather control and optical illusions… but well-trained would be cool too. ๐Ÿ˜‰ That sounds sooo cool! Would it be open to others? *totally hinting* ๐Ÿ˜›

9. I think so. ;-P We should really start a Teenaged Superheroes Society. And my powers are telepathy, with the occasional prophetic vision. ๐Ÿ˜› I suppose that extends to illusions, maybe. Weather control is awesome. ๐Ÿ˜€

10. Haha, I totally got all of those from my Teen Warriors. ๐Ÿ˜› Hmm, I guess I’ll think more deeply about that then. Ooh, teleportation… that would definitely be included. Teleportation and weather control. That is now me. Are you guys planning on making this a blogging thing or just something else?

11. Blogging, mostly. ๐Ÿ˜‰ It would be nice to have our own site, maybe. Eventually. You know, if this proves popular.
I’ll ask Sarah and then we’ll see what we can do; I’ll make an opening post and everything, and then we can start a blog hop! ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Ugh, I can’t say anything him without spoilers… But he’s truly awesome. Okay, I can say something without spoilers. He has a thing for Captain America. ๐Ÿ˜› With his trading cards. Yeah. “I watched you while you were sleeping. I mean, I was present while you were unconscious from the ice…” ๐Ÿ˜›

And of course I have to watch it… it got AMAZING ratings on Steven Graydanus’ website Decent Films! For a superhero movie, that is… and for a Disney affiliate. Normally, Disney movies have a big tendency to slip up (look up “Quo Vadis Disney” if you want to read the whole article,) though Pixar is generally a bit better.

2. Honestly, out of the *cough* two *cough* superhero movies I’ve watched, the Avengers was my favorite. ๐Ÿ˜› It was also the first one I watched, too, so when I watched I was completely unbiased. So yeah, I would definitely recommend it. It has some awesome quotes. “In a few hours we’ll know every dirty secret SHIELD has ever tried to hide.
Blueberry?”

3. There’s a lot of other good quotes and scenes, too. My favorite is from Captain America, from the following scene…
Natasha: “I’d sit this one out, Cap.”
Cap: “I don’t see how I can.”
Natasha: “These guys come from legend, they’re basically gods.”
Cap: “There’s only one God, ma’am, and I’m pretty sure he doesn’t dress like that.”
*dies* (That’s me dying, not him… and I apologize for fangirling. ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

4. IKR???? The sad thing is that Chris Evans, who plays him, is an atheist from what I’ve heard. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ But Cap’s awesome. Most of the deleted scenes on Youtube involve him. One has an adorable little boy in it. ๐Ÿ˜€ I love little kids…

2. Waitaminute… that probably isn’t really… I have no idea what that is, really. ‘Cause honestly, our car only has an eighteen gallon tank, and the pump said 18.9 gallons or something like that. Do cars even have 19-gallon gas tanks?!

1. I’m going to have to apologize for sounding knowledgeable (because I’m not – thanks Google!). Apparently most cars don’t, one of the newer Acura compacts (he was driving and Acura) has a 1.5 capacity, and some of the older ones apparently have an even larger tank. I can’t believe I’m talking about this. ๐Ÿ˜› And in case you were wondering (which you probably weren’t), a 26 ft U-Haul has a 57 gallon tank. I am sooo nuts…
