Weekly Writing Helpers: Symbols

Weekly Writing Helpers are here to help you when you get stuck or are fresh out of ideas. I’d love to read what you come up with! If you post your story, you can link back to this post or tag your post with Weekly Writing Helper. 🙂

Planning Stages Idea:

Find a way to incorporate a symbol into your story. (For example, in To Kill A Mockingbird, a mockingbird symbolizes the death of innocence. You could also just add in something important to your character, like roses in Beauty and the Beast.)

Plot Twist Idea:

Bring an object into your story that symbolizes or brings back memories from their past. (Like in Toy Story 3 with Baby’s heart-shaped locket! 😀 )

Writer’s Block Idea:

If you need something to help you tie pieces of your plot together, use a symbol that means something to all of your characters.
